A Private Philanthropic Foundation

Innovation in science, technology
and human thriving.

Strategic philanthropy with a focus on the Northwestern US.

Innovation in science, technology, and a better Northwest.

The Pole Creek Foundation is a private philanthropy fund focused on:

  • innovative science and technology, and ways to communicate innovation broadly for maximum impact
  • supporting innovation in social service delivery to improve lives in the Northwest

We support the researchers, builders, educators, and institutions working to enlarge human understanding and to translate that understanding into the well-being of our region.

We are guided by a conviction that the Northwest is a singular place — in the strength of its universities, the breadth of its industries, and the character of its communities — and that thoughtful philanthropy can help these strengths compound into lasting public benefit.

How the Foundation gives.

The Pole Creek Foundation conducts its grantmaking directly, in close consultation with organizations whose work we know well. We prefer to build long-term relationships with a small number of grantees rather than respond broadly to the many worthy requests we receive. We make grants using a combination of a Donor Advised Fund — the Pole Creek Fund, and a Private Foundation — the Pole Creek Foundation. To date, the majority of our giving has been accomplished via our Donor Advised Fund, reserving the Private Foundation for more specialized investments.

A note on unsolicited proposals

The Foundation does not currently accept unsolicited applications or letters of inquiry. Grants are made by invitation of the trustees. We appreciate your understanding, and we are sorry that we cannot respond individually to every request.
